Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, the popular Ohio-based ice cream company with one location in Old Town, is preparing to open its second Arizona location in Scottsdale.

The paper-covered storefront has long been building anticipation for shoppers strolling around Scottsdale Quarter. On Oct. 16, it will finally celebrate its grand opening.

At an event from 7 to 11 p.m. the ice cream shop will welcome customers and offer free scoops. For truly devoted fans, there's more. The first 50 people in line will receive swag bags filled with Jeni's goodies.

At the event, customers can try Jeni's signature flavors such as the Brambleberry Crisp and Salty Caramel, plus its special fall seasonal menu.

Fans can find Jeni's pints at AJ’s Fine Foods, Whole Foods and Target along with its two Scottsdale scoop shops.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream

The company got its start in Columbus, Ohio in 2002. A few years prior, owner Jeni Britton, an art history student turned baker started experimenting with adding unusual ingredients, such as cayenne pepper, to ice cream. She began selling her treats at local farmers markets and soon, her company exploded, opening ice cream shops all over the country.

Jeni's made its Arizona debut in the spring, celebrating its Old Town storefront's grand opening with a similar event on March 1. Soon, fans will have two spots to get their splendid scoops.
