Some of you were still recovering from New Year's Eve celebrations when January First Friday went down on January 1. We get it. But now you've got plenty of ways to redeem yourself during Third Friday and some new places to get your local art fix — including the new Cobra Arcade Bar that's home to a new El Mac and David Choe mural on its south-facing exterior wall. Friday, January 15, will be your first chance to see the new home for Palabra, where the art gallery and hair salon now occupy distinct spaces. But explore these other free shows, too — where you'll find an eclectic mix of paintings, sculpture, and photography.

"60, 30, 15...mélange"
Eye Lounge presents 15 works by John Randall Nelson, who's looking forward to his 60th birthday in May by reviewing his art practice "and some of the happenings along the way" in its Main Gallery. The Third Friday opening for this show includes improvisational performance by Bucky's Experimental Instrumentations, comprising Nelson, Alan Jones, and Joe Willie Smith who use artist-designed instruments, found objects, and found sounds. In its Project Room, Eye Lounge presents "go on till you come to the end," featuring paintings, drawings and findings by Christopher Jagmin. First Friday hours for both shows are 6 to 10 p.m. Find more information on the Eye Lounge website.

"Figuratively Speaking"
Practical Art continues its exhibition of works by Denise Yaghmourian, which features sculptures that offer "a glimpse into private moments shared between human beings." Third Friday hours are 6 to 7:30 p.m. Find more information on the Practical Art website.

"A Collection"
The Drive-Thru Gallery continues its exhibition of photographic works by Katie Scarbrough. Third Friday hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Find more information on The Drive-Through Gallery Facebook page

"Childhood Re-Served: The Saturday Morning Chronicles"
1Spot Gallery is showing works by Damian Jim that conjure nostalgic memories of childhood — but with a twist. Third Friday hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Find more information on the 1Spot Gallery Facebook page.

"Mind's Eye Candy"
Treeo presents an exhibition featuring works by Geoffrey Gersten, whose work "combines whimsical humor and a sense of political irony," and works by Dan Nearing, whose paintings of vintage candy wrappers pay homage to those who created them. Third Friday hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Find more information on the Treeo Facebook page

"Blood"
The Firehouse Gallery presents an exhibition of 10 new works by James B. Hunt, who says these paintings are "a bit more loose and improvisational" than prior pieces. He'll also be hiding a couple of paintings on the premises "for anybody willing to go look for them" — which is characteristic of his art practice. Third Friday hours are 7 to 10 p.m. (An open mic/variety show starts on the venue's outdoor stage at 8 p.m.) Find more information on The Firehouse Gallery Facebook page
