Lewis and Clark’s birch-bark canoe journey from St. Louis to Oregon helped open up the west and inspire future generations to push beyond imaginary boundaries. Charles Fritz was certainly inspired, enough so that the artist retraced the pair’s famous route twice. Along the way, Fritz visited sites of noteworthy events—and, inspired, put brush to canvas. Fritz’s 100-painting exhibition, “Inspirational Journey: The Story of Lewis and Clark, Featuring the Artwork of Charles Fritz,” is the focus of this evening of storytelling, and examinations of personalities of the past, as well a discussion of his artistic process.
Catch Fritz at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at the Scottsdale Museum of the West, 3830 North Marshall Way. The talk is free with museum admission. Visit scottsdalemuseumwest.org/ or call 480-686-9539.
