Artist Bob Ross once said, We dont make mistakes, we just have happy accidents. Then again, Ross wasnt around for Dubyas second term, Madoffs rip-offs, or Meet the Spartans.
Perhaps he got the idea from renowned early 20th-century painter Ernest Blumenschein, whose influential art career came about via a series of lucky accidents. The dude discovered painting by chance while at music school, then stumbled on his future hometown of Taos, New Mexico, when his carriage broke down, and eventually became one of the citys most famous artists.
Catch Blumenscheins Southwestern landscapes, portraits, and early illustrations in the In Contemporary Rhythm: The Art of Ernest L. Blumenschein exhibit.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: March 15. Continues through June 14, 2009
