Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.

Each week, Jackalope Ranch brings you a free event, workshop, or you-name-it happening in Phoenix. Because sometimes the best things in life really are free. This week's freebie: Phoenix New Times Tweet Up.

We'll be the first to admit that social media and drinking don't always go hand in hand (just ask your ex-partner, family, or former employer). But this week, we're willing to make an exception as Phoenix New Times puts on another free Tweet Up party, this Thursday at San Felipes Cantina in Tempe Marketplace.

From 5 to 7 p.m. enjoy free appetizers, Budweiser Black Crown, and Avión Tequila with fellow New Times social media followers. You can also win a free pair of tickets to see the Cold War Kids at Carnaval Eléctrico on March 8th if you retweet you Thursday night activities with the hashtag #NTTweetup.

Although admission to the Tweet Up party is free, you must RSVP to ensure that you're added to the list. Download the New Times' free Happy Hours app to access the virtual invite, or visit the New Times Tweet Up party on Facebook.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
