61. The Lady at Short Leash Hot Dogs

Is it the fried pickles that make the Lady at Short Leash Hot Dogs so good? Maybe it’s the creamy chipotle mayo. Then again, it could be the sweet sauteed onions…

In any case, I’m absolutely sure that this classic Short Leash creation is one of my favorite hot dogs in town. I prefer to order my Lady with a spicy beer hot sausage (made locally by Shreiner’s, of course) to amp up the heat. And when I’m dining at the Sit…Stay location on Roosevelt Row, I start with an order of the pimento cheese dip. Creamy and smoky, it’s hard to resist — particularly because it comes with a side of crispy, greasy flatbread for dipping.

As one of the Valley’s original and most successful food trucks, Short Leash has become famous for creative, naan-wrapped sausages served on the go and, nowadays, at a handful of brick and mortar locations around Phoenix. Owers Brad and Kat Moore even have a new project up their sleeves; they’ll be providing food for the newly opened Valley Bar in downtown Phoenix, with a menu that’s entirely different from the Short Leash we’ve already come to know and love.
