Here are some of our picks for lunches, dinners, and of course, happy hours in south Tempe.
All the top local restaurants in this west Valley city.
Tempe is a town of drinking and dining options. Would you like a drink, a meal? Sure. How would you like to get there — walk, bike, scoot, drive, rideshare, bus, Orbit, light rail? Fine. While all this probably adds to the bustling atmosphere (and top-notch people watching) along Mill Avenue and University Drive, it does not take away from the stress of knowing where to go for local food and beverage.

Uptown Phoenix has a wonderful little cluster of homes, businesses, and restaurants that's not quite Dreamy Draw, and not quite the Seventh Street dining corridor. It's the Madison neighborhood along 12th Street, 16th Street, and State Route 51, just north of Missouri Avenue and south of Northern Avenue.
Restaurants include classic Phoenix staples like Texaz and Feeney's; quick lunch spots like George's Kitchen and Los Taquitos; and neighborhood bars like Swizzle Inn and Linger Longer Lounge.
