Have sympathy for Devil's Martini. Both locations of the nightlife chain (one's in Old Town, the other is near the Scottsdale Airpark) will be closing for good after this coming Saturday.
I spoke with a few employees at the Old Town location who chalk the closures up to both locations experiencing a downturn in business and losing their patronage to other nearby clubs.
Both Devil's Martinis toughed it out for the better part of a decade. Canadian entrepreneurs Richard and Delania Geddes opened the Old Town location in 2001 after operating the original Devil's Martini in Toronto. The North Scottsdale DM followed in 2003 and became a notorious haven for cougars on the prowl in the last five years.
If you're looking for another nightspot featuring "devil" in its name, there's still Devil's Advocate and Devil's Hideaway in Tempe, as well as Mesa's Sun Devil Liquors (which features a quaint drinkery on premesis).
