Each week Gem features one standout piece from a local shop. Whether it's a jacket, necklace, or handbag, it's on our have-to-have list.

What: This vintage mink headband hat is a simple (well, it's less PETA-invoking than a bulky goat hair coat, anyway) way of sporting fur with some flapper flair. Fuzz made a major comeback this fall/winter season, with The Olsens' Elizabeth and James line, and wide-collar '70s style fur-lined coats. The warm, rusty pumpkin orange ribbon is harvest season appropriate, and has been an "it" color for a good chunk of the past year.

Where: Melrose Market

Cost: $19.99

Style It: Embrace the '20s art deco look of the hat with strong architectural lines and delicate embellishments. Michael Kors peep-toe wedges in calf hair make for a sturdy, stylish base for the Kors gray brocade shift dress, delicate jewelry, and (for fun) a quilted Chanel handbag.
