For one night a year, the fashion-conscious flock to shops, malls, and boutiques across the Valley for giveaways, perks, and drool-worthy discounts, all in the name of Fashion's Night Out.

As there's an overwhelming number of FNO fun going down all over the state (and country) on Thursday, September 6, we picked out a handful of events that made it onto our planner.

Hair-Braiding Bar @ Madewell Appealing to our inner desire for an old-fashioned sleepover, the crew at Madewell will host a hair-braiding bar starting at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Any shopper who spends more than $100 will receive a state-themed tote (the same Arizona-centric bag that was available at the Fashion Square shop's grand opening).

Little Black Dress Challenge @ Neiman Marcus Vote for your favorite LBD sketch from a select bunch of former Phoenix Fashion Week emerging designers (and meet the creative bunch) on Neiman Marcus' second floor dress department starting at 5 p.m. Sport a little black dress for a chance to win a VIP package for two to Phoenix Fashion Week in October.

The Art of Fashion @ Neiman Marcus The LBD challenge is just one slice of the massive undertaking that is Neiman's FNO celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Haps include meet-and-greets with artist John Palmer and designer Oday Shakar, the Project Ruff-way dog fashion show, a trend fashion show (for humans), and trunk shows from YSL and Valentino. Bubbly will be served and beats will emanate from the cafe lounge.

Vintage Circus Hair Show @ Brillare Hairdressing Academy At its Scottsdale Quarter campus, cosmetology school Brillare will host a 40-model hair show featuring the work of students adhering to a retro circus theme. Admission is free, refreshments will be complimentary, and the show starts at 5:30 p.m.

Scent Release @ Revera Snag a free sample of the Revera's new perfume, Bêtise, and complimentary little bags of bath salts. FNO festivities also include live music, wine, and cheese.

After Party @ The Saguaro A free shuttle bus will be available to FNO attendees who wish to depart from Neiman's and head to The Saguaro's after party, which starts at 7 p.m. The event will include a collection presentation from Alice & Olivia, Teres Nail Bar's nail art station, a CUSP by Neiman Marcus pop-up shop, and giveaways in Old Town Whiskey.

Rooftop Fashion Show and After Party @ W Hotel Scottsdale The W will follow up the shopping sprees with a poolside fashion show of looks from W Hotels The Store on its rooftop deck starting at 9 p.m. Cover bands will also perform. There's no cover.
