The hospitality company currently operates three popular restaurants and bars and plans to add five more, each bringing something different to the Valley’s dining scene.
“As the Phoenix area culinary and bar scene grows, more people are realizing that Arizona is a culinary destination,” he says. “We’re excited to be a part of it.”
Clive Collective was formed in 2020 by partners Troyan and Justin Massei, who have extensive experience in nightlife and hospitality. In 2021, they were joined by celebrity chef Beau MacMillan, a leader in the Arizona culinary scene for more than two decades.
Clive Collective opened Cala, a lively restaurant featuring Mediterranean cuisine at the Senna House Hotel in Scottsdale in 2022.
In 2024, they partnered with Creation Hospitality and opened Tell Your Friends, a stylish speakeasy in north Scottsdale that has won several awards, including the Arizona Restaurant Association’s Foodist Award for Iconic Speakeasy Experience and the Bar and Restaurant Expo Industry Excellence Award for Bar of the Year.
In early 2025, Clive Collective opened Neon Spur in Tempe.
“It was fun to go back to our roots on Mill,” says Massei, who previously worked with Troyan at Riot Hospitality which manages several restaurants and nightlife concepts.
“There are lots of cool things happening in Tempe and Neon Spur brings country, rock and roll and a fun backyard party,” he says.

The team behind Clive Collective has a busy year ahead with five new concepts opening across the Valley.

New projects in the works
When dreaming up new concepts, the trio behind Clive Collective is inspired by trends and traveling.“We like to experience restaurants and entertainment when we travel,” Massei says. “When we find things that we like, we think about how we can bring them to our city. We see where there’s a void, what we think can work well and then we work with our team to put brands and concepts together.”
Clive Collective’s partners are energized about the new venues they will launch in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and downtown Phoenix in 2025 and 2026.
Kuza will open in north Scottsdale later this year, offering Asian food including robata, a Japanese method of cooking in which food is cooked over charcoal.
“Beau has a background and passion for Asian food, and there is not a lot of robata in the Valley, so we saw an opportunity to bring something unique to our community,” Troyan says.
A second location of Cala is planned for the Paradise Valley Mall redevelopment and is set to make its debut in 2026.
“We are excited to take the Cala brand to next level, bring in new equipment and offer a more elevated menu with woodfired cooking, as well as some of Cala’s signature items, and a private event space,” Troyan says.
The group plans to make its entrance into downtown Phoenix at the historic Stoddard-Harmon House. Partnering with Intersection Development, the team has three new concepts in the works.
Ada will offer a spacious patio and American cuisine with a focus on seasonal ingredients and fresh seafood. Love Call will be an elevated neighborhood bar with a circular design, neon lighting and music.
The group also plans to open Kuza Tori, a smaller version of the Scottsdale restaurant that serves Japanese street food.
“It’s a unique project with all three concepts located close to each other, but each will have its own identity,” Massei says. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the growth happening in downtown Phoenix.”
Clive Collective and its team are working hard to bring these new projects to fruition.
“It’s exciting to see our ideas evolve from paper to reality,” Massei says. “By the time a concept opens, we’ve been working on it for a while, so it’s very rewarding to see people enjoying the food, beverage and experience. It’s an amazing feeling every time.”
