Now, customers in north Scottsdale will have a chance to experience conveyor belt sushi at Kura Sushi's latest Valley location. The new restaurant is currently in its soft-opening stage and will celebrate its grand opening on Friday.
Kura Sushi is an international chain with hundreds of locations worldwide. There are over 70 restaurants in the United States, and the new Scottsdale spot will be Arizona's third. The other Valley locations are located in the Camelback Colonnade in Phoenix and in the Andersen Fiesta Shopping Center in Chandler.
Rotating around on the conveyor belt, there are varieties of nigiri, two to four-piece servings of different sushi rolls, cone-shaped hand rolls and oval-shaped gunkan. The dishes use a wide variety of seafood from salmon and tuna to eel, octopus and snow crab. Warm dishes include soups, udon and ramen noodles.
Customers can grab plates right off the conveyor belt, or make special orders through a tableside touchscreen. At the Valley's two existing restaurants, those orders appear via a second, speedy conveyor belt or are delivered to the table by server robots. These little guys roll around the restaurant, displaying animated faces and speaking with a British accent. Actual human servers are available by request, or if you order alcoholic beverages.
The new Scottsdale restaurant replaces the former Flo's New Asian Cusine on the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and is located within The Promenade shopping center. The grand opening celebrations begin on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
